We have generated new rats bearing an oxytocin (OXT)-enhanced cyan fluorescent protein (eCFP) fusion transgene designed from a murine construct previously shown to be faithfully expressed in transgenic mice and demonstrate that that our new transgenic rats are a valuable new tool to identify and study the physiology of oxytocin-producing neurones and their terminals. These transgenic rats and previously generated rats bearing an vasopressin (AVP)-enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) fusion transgene were imported to IEM and prepared new colonies for further studies
