Archaeological record of the earliest Neolithic in Bohemia does not show any traces of cultural influences from the Mesolithic. The settlement territory of the earliest phase of the Linear Pottery Culture coincides with the fertile zones of the country, and therefore the idea of the undisturbed existence of the local Mesolithic population in the remaining zones can be considered very probable, namely if the two economic systems mostly exploited different biomass segments. Chronologically structured data on the settlement intensity and timespan of survival of the Mesolithic communities or on the nature of their relationship to the Neolithic population is not available, and this makes it possible to create brilliant interpretation constructs with no linkage to the material evidence whatsoever.
