The chapter assesses the quality of a bridging social capital item battery (asking for the number of family members, friends and acquaintances that are different from the respondent in terms of sexual orientation, ethnicity etc.) used as proxy for range and openness of a network. Although the battery shows particularly bad test-retest as well as internal consistency reliabilities, all its items seem to be criterion valid.
