    Bednář compares Popper's notion of open society with the reality of European Union. In his analysis the Europaen Union has apparently evolved into a sophisticated post-demotratic entity as a highly-regulated, closed, non-liberal, irrational, non-humanitarian, and consequently undemocratic set of institutions.
