The flow behaviour of sand slurries depends strongly on the solid material composition. The present paper describes results of experimental investigation of the sand slurries. It is focused on evaluation of the effect of particle size and concentration on slurry flow behaviour in the laminar and turbulent regime. The content of fine, especially colloidal solid particles evokes a complex non-Newtonian behaviour of the slurry. Sand slurries conveyed in water as well as in low and medium concentrated kaolin slurries were experimentally investigated with respect to the solid phase concentration and composition and their flow behaviour was evaluated.
