Two morphologically very distinct genera from heterocytous cyanobacteria from the family Microchaetaceae are described from Brazilian rainy forest „Mata Atlântica” (Ophiothrix, Streptostemon). The both types occur in aerophytic habitats, epiphytic on trees and in soils. The morphological analysis was described in detail. From both genera were found several types on the species level. The article is documented by valid taxonomic description and figures.
