The paper provides a revision of the diversity and distribution of Potamogeton hybrids in the Czech Republic. Eight hybrids were detected, of which four are reported as new taxa for the Czech Republic. The present and past diversity is discussed and reasons of its decline are described. Spatial and temporal patterns of the occurrence of Potamogeton hybrids are analyzed, and the habitat preferences of hybrids are described. The intensive fish farming on ponds and channelling of rivers are most responsible for the decline of diversity of aquatic vegetation.
