Předkládaná práce se zabývá studiem české literatury „dlouhého“ 19. století v Ústavu pro českou (a světovou) literaturu. Na příkladu odborných biografií výrazných osobností, určujících směřování oboru, analyzuje badatelské preference a ediční aktivity s oborem spojené. Autor dochází k závěru, že od počátečního stěžejního postavení, dobově ostatně pochopitelného, je obor dnes personálně i odborně spíše opomíjen.

A study is concerned with the research of the “long“ 19th century Czech literature in the Institute of Czech (and World) literature. On the example of scholarly biographies of the outstanding personalities, determinating the subject field pointing, the study analyses researcher´s preferencies and editor´s activities joined with the branch. An author takes a view that from the beginning key role, however contemporary obvious, the subject field is personally as well as professionally rather neglected.
