The study was performed in winter season 2008 in Prague when the concentrations of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were elevated. The frequencies of stable and unstable aberrations were measured in 42 mothers and their newborns. The results obtained by the FISH method revealed similar levels of unstable aberrations and significantly elevated levels of stable aberrations in mothers in comparison with newborns. The mothers’ age affected the level of aberrations in newborns.
