    The present study based on the effect of high magnetic fields in unwinding the supramolecular helical structure and aligning LC molecules allowed us to determined the trend of the tilt angle of the deuterated moiety within the whole mesomorphic range of both the SmA and Smc* phases. In this communication we are presenting the main results which are of help in understanding the molecular arrangements within the so call “de Vries” SmA phase.
