    The article deals with the preparation and propertiees of fiber-optic U-shaped detection elements based on polymer-clad optical fibers (PCS).It reports data on the sensitivity of the elements to refractive-index and light-absorption changes in the U part of the element cladding. The elements have been tested for the measurement of temporal concentration changes of methylene blue caused by its photocatalytic decomposition catalyzed by an anatase layer applied continuously onto optical fibers.
