In this work we applied experimental and theoretical techniques to get clear picture of the influence of protonation on electrical properties of new material - phenylpyridyldiketopyrrolopyrrole. From the experimental results and theoretical models follows that the suitable reaction of phenylpyridyldiketopyrrolopyrrole with hydrogen (protonation) can modulate the material electronic properties (ionization potential, surface potential, conductivity) so that the phenylpyridyldiketopyrrolopyrrole can be used as hydrogen sensor.
