The paper summarizes 40 years of X-ray structure analysis in the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The determination of molecular structure by X-ray diffraction concentrated originally to structure determination of oligomers, catalysts of polymerization reaction, additives changing the polymer properties, organic conductors, and clatrates. Later, the scope of materials studied was enlarged for organic biomacromolecules as aspartic proteases, galactosidases, lacasses, immonoglobulines, metabolic enzymes, oxidases, nucleases, chitinases, etc.
