Studie věnuje pozornost osamocené pozici kalvinismu na české náboženské scéně v druhé polovině 16. a na začátku 17. století. Překlad českého překladu Kalvínových Institucí připravil Jiří Strejc – Vetter (1536-1599), českobratrský kazatel a uznávaný teolog. V letech 1612-1617 došlo konspirativním způsobem k vydání překladu nejméně tří ze čtyř knih Kalvínových Institucí a několika menších tisků s výňatky. V pozadí tohoto nakladatelského podniku stál bývalý člen Jednoty bratrské Jan Opsimathes (vlastním jménem Morkovský či Mrkvička, cca 1568 – po 1620).

This study focuses on the isolated situation in which Calvinism found itself on the Czech religious scene during the latter 16th and early 17th centuries. Unity of Brethren preacher and a reputable theologian Jiří Strejc-Vetter (1536-1599) translated Calvin’s Institutes into Czech. In 1612-1617, at least three out of four books of the Czech version of Calvin’s Institutes along with several lesser prints with excerpts were clandestinely published. Standing behind this publication was a former member of the Unity, Jan Opsimathes (his proper name was Morkovský or Mrkvička, circa 1568 – post 1620).
