The article presents a brief outline of the data relating to the philosopher Vladimir Jankélévitch who was obviously unrecognised by his co-temporary colleagues. He formulated the idea that he is working for the 21st century. His carreer in Prague is also mentioned. The brief commentary to the book La Mort follows.
