The main problem of glucose oxidation by oxygen in presence of palladium catalyst is fast but fully reversible catalyst deactivation. This problem is tackled through a tailored selection, design and optimization of the gas-lift reactor. It allows the reaction along with the catalyst reactivation proceed in one multifunctional reactor unit under natural periodic operation mode.
