Práce řeší hlavní tematické okruhy formování středověkého města na základě archeologických pramenů. Pozornost je věnována vztahu ke staršímu osídlení, utváření půdorysu a parcelaci, úpravám komunikací, vývoji zástavby, archeologickým dokladům ekonomiky a zrodu vrcholně středověké hmotné kultury v městském prostředí.

The article deals with the main thematic spheres of the formation of the medieval town on the base of the archaeological sources. The attention is paid to the relation to the older settlement, formation of the town-plan and the plot-system, as well as to the road-surfacing, development of the build –up area, archaeological evidence of the economy and the emergence of the late medieval material culture in the town- surroundigs.
