Článek na základě hodnocení eponymní lokality v Podmoklech v severních Čechách ukazuje, že pohled na tuto lokalitu i na celou tzv. podmokelskou skupinu byl v průběhu vývoje bádání významně deformován dvěma skutečnostmi. Především byly na podmokelském pohřebišti, stejně jako na dalších pohřebištích této skupiny, vytrženy z kontextu ostatních období hroby a nálezy z mladší doby železné. Druhým nepříznivým faktorem pak byla orientace bádání na řešení etnických otázek. Autor dospívá k názoru, že skupina představuje nedílnou součást plynulého vývoje osídlení v labské průrvě. Revize definic podmokelské skupiny ukázala, že pro její definování zbývá dnes jediný artefakt – tzv. podmokelská jehlice. Autor se proto domnívá, že vyčlenění skupiny představuje již překonaný koncept archeologie minulého století.

On the basis of an evaluation of the eponymous site of Podmokly in North Bohemia, the article shows that the perception of the site and of the entire so-called Podmokly group was significantly influenced by two facts in the course of the development of research. First and foremost, the graves and finds from the Late Iron Age at the Podmokly cemetery and other sites were interpreted out of context. The other unfavourable factor was the focus of research on solving questions of ethnicity. The author comes to the conclusion that the group represents an inseparable part of continuous settlement in the Elbe ravine. A review of the definitions of the Podmokly group revealed that only a single artefact remains today for definition purposes – the so-called Podmokly pin. The author therefore believes that the differentiation of this group represents an outdated concept from twentieth-century archaeology.
