Ačkoli se dialog Alkibiadés považoval od antiky za jeden z nejdůležitějších Platónových dialogů, při bližším pohledu se ukazuje, že se jedná spíš o nepravý dialog. Při rozboru hlavního tématu, který představuje péče o sebe, se totiž ukazuje, že tato koncepce není slučitelná s koncepcí poznání duše, resp. že obě koncepce implikují odlišné Já.

Although the Alcibiades is considered to be one of the most important dialogues of Plato, by closely looking it turns out not to be written by Plato. The care for oneself, which is its main theme, is not compatible with another the recognition of the soul, for both notions imply different conception of Oneself.
