Námětem článku je historie recepce Darwinova díla a darwinismu v českých zemích v 19. a 20. století. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována rané recepci a dále funkci darwinismu v totalitních ideologiích.

The subject of the paper is the reception of the work of Charles Darwin and Darwinism in the Czech Lands, with the special regard for the first reception in the 19th Century and the functions of Darwinism in the two biggest totalitarian ideologies in the 20th Century.
