Deposits of extended freshwater tropical lake of stephanian B age was studied using multiproxy approach, including chemical and isotopic analyses of carbonates, analyses of clay mineral assemblages, geochemistry and petrography of dispersed organic matter and palynospectra. A large trophic web of fish assemblages proves the temporal stability of this meromictic oligotrophic lake that was able to record high-frequency climate variations. Our results indicate complexity of ancient lake system and surronding environmets in their sensitive response to changing tropical climate.
