Oběť je ústředním tématem Patočkovy pozdní filosofie. Patočka představil svůj pojem oběti na domácím semináři v roce 1973 a podnítil tím diskuzi, která poukázala na některé problematické rysy.
The vicitim is a central theme in Patočka's late philosophy. Patočka first presented his conception of the vicitim in a house seminar in 1973; even then it provoked a discussion which pointed to certain problematic features.
