Cílem studie je pokusit se zodpovědět otázku, zda významný český autor detektivní literatury třicátých až padesátých let dvacátého století Eduard Fiker začal svou literární kariéru s anglickými či českými postavami a zápletkami. Je pravděpodobné, že Fiker nejdříve psal tzv. "anglické detektivní romány" a na česká témata přešel v pozdních třicátých letech, kdy došlo k oživení nacionalismu pod vlivem politických a válečných událostí ve Střední Evropě.

The paper attempts to answer the question whether Eduard Fiker, a prominent Czech Mystery writer of the 1930s to 1950s, started his career with English or Czech figures and plots. It seems plausible that Fiker wrote the so-called „English Detective novels“ first and stepped to Czech themes later in the 1930s, when the ideas of Nationalism were revived due to the political and military developments in Central Europe.
