Proteomic profiling of cancer cells was carried out with a view to addressing leukaemia and its treatment with a perspective towards novel diagnostic and/or treatment modalities. Earlier protein changes that precede the onset of apoptosis were studied using proteomic analysis of cells treated with anticancer drug cisplatin. To reliably quantify maximum number of proteins, combination of three proteomic techniques were used, namely 2-D electrophoresis, 2-D liquid chromatography and SILAC approach. The combination of several different methods was able to reveal and identify a large number of different proteins of interest. With such an approach we aim to extend our understanding of the ‘on-going’ changes in CEM cell proteome induced by cisplatin treatment.
