The free jet of hot gas flowing out the orifice of a hybrid water-argon arc heater is studied with emphasis on its interaction with the surrounding environment close to the output of the arc heater. The article aims to deriving the method enabling to describe the interaction of free jet of the mixture of argon and water vapours with air of atmospheric pressure. The designed mathematical model is based on the continuity and momentum equations and is completed with the continuity equations for individual original components of plasma jet (argon, water vapour) including diffusion. The model enables to compute the velocity field and to determine the influence of the coefficients characterizing laminar and turbulent part of viscosity and diffusion on the distribution of original components across the jet.
