Moderní fyzická geografie, chce-li vystoupit ze stínu jisté akademičnosti, se musí více angažovat v řešení každodenních potřeb společnosti. Nabízí se její uplatnění v územním plánování, krajinném plánování, hodnocení rizik, podpoře rozhodování v krizovém řízení. Příklady využití jsou uvedeny v příspěvku.

Modern physical geography has to be more engaged in the solution of day-to-day problems of the society on the way leaving the shadow of academicity. Some options for application are given by the territorialand landscape planning, risk assessment, disaster management decision making support. Application examples are presented in the article.
