Příspěvek se zabývá formální stránkou díla De Incarnatione Athanasia Alexandrijského (+375) a poukazuje na Athanasiovu dobrou znalost rétoriky a její vliv na spis. Můžeme říci, že toto dílo je formováno užíváním rétorických postupů a argumentů. Athanasiův příklon k rétorické argumentaci vychází z dobové potřeby. Církev musela absorbovat množství nových věřících a pro střední a vyšší vzdělání byla charakteristická dobrá znalost rétoriky. Proto filosofická forma, kterou dal theologii Órigenés směrovaný k alexandrijským filosoficky vzdělaným intelektuálům, je u Athanasia zaměněna formou rétorickou a narativní

The article deals with the formal side of Athanasius of Alexandria’s writing De Incarnatione, and it stresses the author’s good knowledge of rhetoric and how this infl uenced the treatise. Apparently, this piece of writing was formed with the help of rhetorical techniques and arguments. Athanasius’ tendency to use rhetorical argumentation arose from contemporary requirements. The Church had to admit a number of new believers and the perfect knowledge of rhetoric was characteristic of people with a middle and higher degree of education. Therefore, the philosophical form of theology formed by Origen, who was oriented to Alexandrian intellectuals well-educated in philosophy, is replaced with a rhetorical and narrative form by Athanasius
