Monografická studie se soutředí na čtyři různé aspekty zkoumaného fenoménu. Obsahem první kapitoly je generační porovnání různorodých reflexí dobové evropské historiografie v recenzích publikovaných v českých historických časopisech. V další kapitole autorka sleduje zahraniční studijní cesty nastupující generace badatelů. Třetí část pojednává o překladech odborných textů, které přinesly metodické obohacení české historiografie. Cílem závěrečné syntetizující kapitoly je dokázat, že právě snaha české akademické komunity obstát v evropském kontextu, vedla ke kvalitativnímu růstu oboru, který znamenal nejen zpřesnění metodiky výzkumu, ale i vznik a metodické vymezení nových disciplín, například dějin umění, nebo, v kontextu diskutované monografie, emancipace literární historie.

This work examines four different aspects of the phenomenon to be analyzed. The first chapter comprises a generational comparison of various reflections of contemporary European historiography in reviews published in Czech historical journals. A further chapter is devoted to study trips abroad taken by the emerging generation of researchers. The third chapter deals with the phenomenon of translation of specialist texts which methodologically enriched Czech historiography. The last synthesizing chapter attempts to demonstrate that it was precisely the attempts of the Czech academic community to compete in a European-wide context that contributed to this qualitative transformation, which led not only to more precise research methods but even to the to the birth and methodological specification of further historical disciplines such as cultural history or, in the example discussed, the emancipation of literary history.
