Článek se zabývá vývojem postojů proroka Muhammada k požívání vína a dalších nápojů obsahujících alkohol.Autor zpochybňuje obecně vžitou domněnku, že zákaz pití alkoholu v islámu je způsoben výhradně náboženskými či doktrinálními motivy, a analyzuje koránské verše, v nichž se motiv vína objevuje k aktuálních kontextech. Ukazuje se tu, že zákaz vína měl mnohem prozaičtější pozadí

The article examines the development of attitudes of Prophet Muhammad to the use of wine and other beverages containing alcoholic substances. The author questions commonly shared view, that the ban of wine-drinking in Islam is „due to the God’s revelation“ itself and analyses the Qur’anic verses, in which the motif of wine occurs in their actual contexts
