Man kann sagen, dass die Philosophie des Geistes für moderne Zeit in Hegels Philosophie zu finden ist. Martin Heidegger kritisiert in seiner frühen Philosophie des Seins ihre Grundlagen. Im Anschluss an Kant entwickelt er eine radikale Philosophie der Endlichkeit. Die spätere Entwicklung von seiner Philosophie zeigt aber eher seinen Rückkehr zu Hegel an, insbesondere zu Hegels "Phänomenologie des Geistes".

One can say that the philosophy of spirit for modern times is to be found in Hegel's philosophy. In his early philosophy of being, Martin Heidegger rejects the foundation of it. Following Kant, he developes a radical philosophy of finitude. The late development of his philosophy, however, reveals rather his return to Hegel, especially to Hegel’s "Phenomenology of Spirit".

Je možno říci, že filosofii ducha pro moderní dobu lze nalézt v Hegelově filosofii. Martin Heidegger vyvrací ve své rané filosofii bytí její východiska. V návaznosti na Kanta rozvíjí radikální filosofii konečnosti. Pozdější vývoj jeho filosofie nicméně ukazuje spíše jeho návrat k Hegelovi, zvláště k Hegelově "Fenomenologii ducha".
