Článek analyzuje současnou vnitropolitickou situaci v Barmě (Myanmě) zejména přijetí nové ústavy v roce 2008 a přípravy na všeobecné parlamentní volby v roce 2010. Dospívá k závěru, že nové ústavní zřízení sleduje cíl zachovat dosavadní vedoucí úlohu armády v politice a správě země.

The article examines the present political situation in Myanmar (Burma) focusing on the promulgation by the ruling regime of the new Constitution in 2008 and on the preparations for the forthcoming 2010 parliamentary elections. The author´s main finding is that the configuration of the political structure of the country follows the aim of preserving military´s leading political role.
