Hinkmar z Remeše je považován za hlavní zdroj našich poznatků o dvoře Karla Velikého a tedy i dvorském ceremoniálu. Hinkmarova koncepce dokonalého řádu, čili zlatého věku říše, je ztělesněna v osobě Karla Velikého. Při zkoumání Hinkmarových textů se ukazuje také jeho chápání francké šlechty jako odpůrce většího vlivu církve na panovníka.

Hincmar of Reims is considered as the main source of our knowledges about form and functioning of Charlemagne´s court. Hincmar´s conception of right order, or the golden age of empire, is embodied by the figure of Charlemagne. Examining the texts composed by Hincmar, we can reveal perceptions of Franconian nobility as being withholder of more ecclesiastical influence upon the sovereign.
