Polemizujeme s tradiční interpretací, podle níž Lévi-Straussova strukturální antropologie sesazuje pojem člověka z jeho ústředního postavení v humanitních a společenských vědách. Uvádíme důvody, kvůli nimž je třeba Lévi-Straussův cíl "rozpustit člověka" chápat jako nedílnou část jeho boje proti etnocentrismu a ukazujeme, že také pojem subjektu nakonec přežil smrt, kterou ohlašovali nejradikálnější představitelé strukturalismu.

We challenge the traditional interpretation, according to which Lévi-Strauss’ structural anthropology deposes the concept of man from its central place in human and social sciences. We argue that his project of "dissolving the man" should be interpreted as part of his fight against ethnocentrism and we further show that the notion of subject survived its very death announced by the most radical structuralist thinkers.
