The influence of the fully lamellar strucute produced by heat treatment on mechanical properties of near gama-Ti-44Al-8Nb intermetallic was investigated. Effect of improved microstructural control on compression resistance is demonstrated using the step cooling from. The differential thermal analysis was used to determine the phase transformation temperatures as the alfa transu. The heat treatment used, consisting in different cooling from alfa region, remould the as-cast nearly lamellar structure to the fully lamellar uniform structure and decreased the average grain size to the half. The furnace cooling to 1315°C and the following air cooling result in higher yield stress and lower plasticity due the very thin lamellar thickness and planar grain boundary. While higher plasticity and lower yield stress are obtained using the furnace cooling from to 1200°C and the following air cooling. It is caused by the very thick lamellar spacing and locked grain boundaries.
