The effects of indapamide, a thiazide-like diuretic, and captopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, on spontaneous hypertension and the development of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), nitric oxide generation and oxidant status were investigated. Whereas captopril reduced LVH, indapamide enhanced NOS activity and decreased oxidative damage in the case of the combined treatment. The complex protective effects of the combined indapamide plus captopril treatment on hypertension are exerted via its effects on blood pressure, heart hypertrophy and vasorelaxation

Byly studovány účinky diuretika indapamidu a inhibitoru konvertujícího enzymu captoprilu na vývoj spontánní hypertenze, hypertrofii srdeční, tvorbu NO a oxidační status. Captopril zmenšoval srdeční hypertrofii, zatímco indapamid zlepšoval tvorbu NO a snižoval oxidační poškození. Komplexní protektivní působení kombinace indapamidu a captoprilu je zprostředkováno účinky na krevní tlak, srdeční hypertrofii a vasorelaxaci
