The study was focused on scavenging of two entomopathogenic nematodes S. affine and S. kraussei in hosts with different level of susceptibility to EPN infecion. Both nematodes were found being able to colonise both living and dead Galleria mellonella (Lepidoptera) and Blatella germanica (Blattodea) and dead Poecilus cupreus and wireworms (Coleoptera). By scavenging EPNs can utilize cadavers of insects that are naturally resistant to EPN infection and so broaden their host range. Possible mechanisms of the insect resistance to EPNs are discussed.

Práce se zabývala scevengingem entomopatogenních hlístic S. affine a S. kraussei v hostitelích s různou úrovní náchylnosti k infekci. Obě hlístice kolonizovaly živé i mrtvé zavíječe voskové Galleria mellonella (Lepidoptera) a rusy domácí Blatella germanica (Blattodea) a mrtvé Poecilus cupreus a larvy kovaříků (Coleoptera). Díky scavengingu tak hlístice mohou využít i těla hostitelů zaživa resistentních k infekci a rozšířit tak své hostitelské spektrum. Možné mechanismy resistence hmyzu k hlísticím jsou diskutovány.
