Bacteria within rhizosphere of individual plant species – tobacco, black nightshade, horseradish and willow planted in PCB contaminated soil and non-vegetated soil, were isolated and biochemically characterized. Detection of BphA1 gene of degradative pathway was performed by nested PCR using previously designed specific primers to find promising candidates for rhizoremediation purposes.
