    The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of NADPH oxidase inhibitor – apocynin - on blood pressure rise in borderline and spontaneously hypertensive rats. This treatment partially prevented blood pressure rise in both models, but it has no influence on nitric oxide synthase activity. However, apocynin decreased production of reactive oxygen species and thus prevented a decrease in cGMP formation

    Cílem studie bylo zkoumat vliv inhibitoru NADP oxidázy – apocyninu – na vzestup krevního tlaku u potkanů s hraniční nebo spontánní hypertenzí. Tato terapie částečně omezuje vzestup tlaku u obou modelů, je bez vlivu na produkci oxidu dusnatého, ale snižuje tvorbu kyslíkových radikálů a tím zabraňuje poklesu hladin cGMP
