Protease Sapp1p secreted by pathogenic yeast Candida parapsilosis has a higher catalytic activity than the isoenzyme Sapp2p. The gene SAPP2 is transcribed constitutively, while SAPP1 is inducible, it is transcribed only in presence of exogenous protein as a sole source of nitrogen.
