It is reviewed the current status of knowledge on phytoecdysteroids, with emphasis on their occurrence, diversity, functions, biosynthesis and biotechnological production. There are also considered evolutionary aspects with regard to their probable role in the chemical ecology of plants and phytophagous invertebrates.
Je podán přehled současného stavu poznatků o fytoekdysteroidech, s důrazem na jejich výskyt, rozmanitost, funkce, biosyntézu a biotechnologickou produkci. Zvažovány jsou i vývojové aspekty s ohledem na jejich možnou funkci v chemické ekologii rostlin a fytofágních bezobratlých.
