    N-Phosphonoalkyl-trans-3,4-dihydroxypyrrolidine derivatives were synthesized and exploited as synthons for the preparation of hydroxypyrrolidine nucleoside phosphonic acids, the 3'-deoxynucleoside 5'- phosphate analogues.
