The applicability of MALDI-TOF MS to the analysis of wax esters (WEs) was investigated. A series of metal salts of 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) was synthesized and tested as possible matrices. Lithium salt of dihydroxybenzoic acid (LiDHB) performed the best and the sample preparation technique was optimized. WEs showed molecular adducts with lithium [M + Li]+. PSD fragments were used for structure assignment. MALDI with LiDHB was used for several samples of natural origin, including insect and plant WEs.

Byla vyvinuta metoda analýzy voskových esterů pomocí MALDI-TOF MS. Byla připravena série solí kyseliny 2,5-dihydroxybenzoové a otestována jako MALDI matrice. Nejlepších výsledků bylo dosaženo s lithnou solí (LiDHB), pro kterou byl optimalizován postup přípravy vzorku. Voskové estery poskytovaly lithné adukty [M + Li]+, PSD spektra byla využita pro určení struktury. MALDI MS s matricí LiDHB byla použita pro několik hmyzích a rostlinných vzorků.
