Stať popisuje okolnosti, za kterých v letech 1950–1960 vznikala korespondence tehdy začínajícího spisovatele Josefa Škvoreckého a hudebního kritika Lubomíra Dorůžky. Vysvětluje postup při přípravě jednotlivých dopisů ke knižnímu vydání a zdůvodňuje způsob řešení ve sporných a specifických případech. Uvádí také důvody, proč se určitá část korespondence nedochovala.

The text describes the circumstances under which the correspondence of Josef Skvorecky, a writer at a beginning of his career, and a musical critic Lubomir Doruzka started to develop in the 1950s – 1960s. Further it explains the process leading from mostly hand-written letters to their public edition and gives the reasons that made the editor choose the particular solutions in debatable moments. Last but not least, it clears up the question why a part of the correspondence did not survive up to the present day.
