The sol-gel method has been employed for fixing silica tubes and rods in input stacks for drawing microstructure fibers. For this purpose, input sols composed from tetraethoxysilane, phosphorous oxichloride and boron tribromide were prepared. Pastes prepared mixing the sols and solid oxide particles were also used. It has been found out that the sol-gel method is suitable particularly for the filling-in the interstices at the end of the stack which make possible to control pressure during drawing.
