Die Sedimentationsbecken lagernden feinkoernigen Erzaufbereitungs-rueckstaende (Tailings) unterliegen verschiedenen mechanischen undchemischen Prozessen, die unter dem Begriff "Alteration"zusammengefasst werden. Hauptsaechlich wird die Alteration durchzeitabhaengige Setzungen infolge Konsolidation gepraegt.

The uranium mill tailings deposited in tailing ponds are subjectedto various mechanical and chemical processes that can be summarizedby the term "alteration". The alteration depends mainly on thesettlements of the tailings due to their consolidation and thesolute transport processes depend on the pore water discharges.
