A prototype of miniature device for in situ collection of hydride forming elements is designed for determination of these elements in various atomization cells used in atomic spectrometry methods (AAS, AES and AFS). Performance of this device based on electrothermal vaporizer equipped with raw and modified graphite materials is reported. Optimization of trapping efficiency of analytes (As, Se) with respect to collection temperature, geometry and sort of graphite material and its modification by noble metals, to analytical figures of merit and to analytical lifetime of the vaporizer, to influence of carrier and stripping gases, to composition and related gas flow rates is discussed.
