Leachability of cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel, lead and zinc from sewage amended soils is investigated by using various leaching agents, aqua regia, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), acetic acid and sodium nitrate solutions. The yield of extraction is compared with concentration of heavy metals in various parts of crop plants grown on these soils. Relation of biological relevance, phytoavailability and leachability of heavy metals from soils is discussed.
