A chemical and structural characterization of unknown di-and tricarboxylic acids in collected tropical aerosols was performed by means of gas chromatography/mass spectometry (GC/MS) and tandem mass spectral techniques. 4-acetyloxyheptanedioic acid and cis and trans isomers of 5-hexene-1,1,6-tricarboxylic acid were tentative identified.
