Studie pojednává o skalní architektuře (skalních obydlích, hospodářských, technických a církevních objektech), která je jednou ze součástí lidové architektury. Je založena na terénních výzkumech, které provádějí badatelé z Etnologického ústavu AV ČR od 50. let 20. století do současnosti.

The study aims to present, in historical perspective, the special type of primarily provisional dwellings that were being hollowed out primarily in the sandstone rocks. Beside the living quarters, the attention is dedicated also to other types - for example, to the out - buildings and technical buildings that are found in greatest number in the regions of middle and north Bohemia.
