An efficient Raman laser based on rotational scattering in molecular hydrogen is pumped by a short train of pulses from Nd:YAG laser. The features of this synchronously pumped laser are compared to a theoretical model of Raman scattering that takes into account higher order Stokes and anti-stokes waves in transient regime.
